C-Cor Announces Integration Services and Deal with Bay Networks
Roll out the carpet....again, here comes another player in this industry. C-Cor announced during the Atlantic Cable Show in Baltimore that the 40-year old company was hungry for a piece of the data communications over cable pie. C-Cor plans to offer the industry integration services and products including market assessment/trunk-node prioritization, network design, training, fiber optic transmitters, AM fiber nodes, RF amps, activation of the return path including balancing and sweeping, and network management. C-Cor will distribute Bay Networks ’s cable modem and other networking equipment as part of their integration package. C-Cor’s data communications ala carte solution will be known as DataSelect.

Bay Networks will be working side by side with C-Cor, marketing the products and services, testing the products, and writing white papers together.

The partnership is just another step towards Bay Networks ’s concrete prescence in the cable modem industry. It wasn’t long ago that Bay Networks was a tiny Massachusetts start up in the shadow of the big corps such as HP, IBM, and Motorola. They had no purchasing commitments and their outlook was questionable. However, now, their future is looking as bright as it possibly could, with successful deployments of thousands of modems worldwide (over 40,000 shipped), purchasing commitments from major MSO’s (TCI, Continental Cablevision, and Adelphia), selection by @Home for their initial deployment in Silicon Valley, the acquisition by Bay Networks and the soon to be announced next generation product line. C-Cor’s promotional efforts and integration package will provide Bay Networks with the much needed end to end solution offerings and the promotional boost to keep the momentum alive.

JUPITER STUDY PREDICTS SLOW GROWTH OF CABLE MODEM MARKET
