Cox To Deploy Arris' Cornerstone in Several Markets
Last month, Cox announced that it had signed a five-year agreement with Antec, in which Antec will supply the MSO with Arris' Cornerstone cable telephony solution. The deal, which has a value in excess of $100 million, calls for Cox to exclusively deploy Arris' system in several Cox markets including San Diego; Phoenix; New Orleans; Oklahoma City; and Hampton Roads, Virginia. Cornerstone is already deployed over Cox systems in Orange County, Omaha, and some New England markets.

Tellabs Wins Orders From Tekstar & ZekaTel
Last month, Tellabs announced that two cable operators had chosen to deploy its CableSpan 2300 cable telephony system. In Minnesota, Tekstar Cablevision will deploy CableSpan in Battle Lake and Henning by the end of the year. It will utilize the system's integrated data support to deliver high-speed data services in early '99. ZekaTel MultiCommuinicate bv, as part of a four-year agreement with Tellabs, is deploying CableSpan de Banjard in the Netherlands. Currently, ZekaTel uses the system to offer residential telephony services to 500 homes. The operator plans to expand the service to additional Dutch markets.
Tekstar serves 16,000 video subs in 30 Minnesota communities. ZekaTel offers a variety of telecommunications services to more than 135,000 homes and businesses.
