Multimedia Cable is the company that
provides service to my area. Road Runner service is the best ISP I could
ever imagine having. Speed! Speed! Speed! It's true in my case that
download speeds are 100 times faster than a 56K modem connection. I am a
believer. I installed the cable modem (Surfboard SB3100) and a NIC(Linksys
Etherfast 10/100 Lan Card Lne100tx) in my computer (PII 300 Mhz, 128MB
Memory, Compaq Presario 5030). The whole install took less than an hour
including installing the software. I had to test the service so I went to
gamecenter.com and I decided to download a game with a large file 50+MB. I
down loaded half-life, I had previously downloaded it with my 56K modem at
it took close to 10 hours. My usual download speed on the 56K Modem was
6.4Kbps on a good day. With my new love, the Surfboard cable modem, I
started the transfer and let it do its thing, and boy did it do its
thing... 0 to 378Kbps in about 15 seconds... I was hooked and it kept
getting faster almost to 425 Kbps. The file downloaded in less than 6
minutes a 50MB+ file. No joke, No hype. Cable modem service is all that you
could ever want. I will never go back to analog phonelines and the 56K rip
off. Don't believe me, go get hooked up! I would like to say that I
downloaded the file in the middle of the day around 3:00pm central standard
time. No lag No slag. Come to the light... The grass is greener...Throw
away that 56K piece of junk. You won't regret it. I promise.
Be Afraid. Be very Afraid of the speed that you will possess. |
