Testimonial:
The cable modem worked almost as promised
during the beta test, but that's where it stopped.

As soon as the beta test was over, RR implemented speed restrictions that
slowed everyone on the network down. Don't get me wrong, it's still fast
(when it works), but nowhere near the speeds they advertise, or the speeds
we could be getting without the speed cap.

The mail servers (ALL of them) have gone down at least 4 times in the past
month, and connectivity is spotty. Many users in our area report 100%
packet loss several times a day for 1-2 mins. at a time.

The routers we get sent through will actually go to the west coast just to
loop back to the midwest, and several domains are all but unreachable at
decent speeds due to the routing problems.

The main problem that most of us have in KC is the lack of qualified
support. The local techs are nice, but undertrained and misinformed. The
national office is completely worthless, and has yet, to my knowledge,
solved a single problem for any of the regulars on the newsgroup.

Road Runner has a long way to go in my eyes before they become a real ISP,
and I'm sad to say that many people have cancelled the service and gone
back to dial-up. DSL is just making inroads here and most people cannot get
it yet. I guess we shall see how many people stick around once they
can.
