I moved from dial-up four months ago for the speed. I move larger files
around on a monthly basis and really needed quicker times.
The set-up went O.K. and the speed (when its running) is fast!
This is where the problem starts.
During the three months or so I've been with Rogers/At Home I have logged
over 40 service interuptions. Some of these have lasted several days. This
breaks down into my 'High Speed Cable Service' with the 'Unmatched
Reliability' (Quoted from the At Home website) being 'down' for roughly 40%
of the time. Consequently I have had to maintained my old dial-up provider
as well, at the added cost. (Incidentily, I was advised to do this by
Rogers tech guys due to the fact that they quote, "...can't guarantee the
service")
Not good! Not Professional! Not Acceptable!
My advice...to those who are considering cable and also want reliability,
don't! If you want speed and don't care when, or if, its up and
running...take your chances.
