  • Work history Having started my working career within the building industry, as a plumber, working on commercial as well as public property, having gained a lot of experience, including public relations, estimations & costing, design & planning, I furthered my career going back to college, to gain my City&Guilds in Electrical\Electronic installation's.

    I then changed my career path to Computer related studies, to help my daughters to progress their career for the future. My first full time position was with an antique dealer in Welford, Leicestershire, my duties were working on the companies database, building a itinerary of all stock, with valuations, ordering of all stationary, consumables, Building, repairing and upgrading of PC's, creating a LAN, purchasing of all software applications.

    Then in 1998-99 I had a short term contract with Northampton County Council, Social Services Department, in there Information Systems Section at John Dryden House in Northampton, Visiting all Local authority sites in and around Northamptonshire, loading software applications, repairs, upgrades, of PC's Printers, photocopier machines. I was placed in charge of the local stock room, doing repairs upgrades, and rebuilds for re-location.


    Present Position I am presently employed for a company in Northampton, who have various sites throughout the UK. Who deal with major Banks, High Street retailers. I work as a Desktop support / Network support Analyst, in a Helpdesk environment, setting up of all Users accounts, Printers, Fax machines, photocopiers. Setting up of 3 Call centres, Running Win95, Winnt4.0 Microsoft Office applications. Using Compaq T1000/T1010 Thin clients, laptops, standalone, Networked, Digital, & Analogue Lucent DT3 phones, turrets. Backups of all servers on a daily basis, and all IT related issues. My other duties were to:

  • Check all servers & ascertain their operational status.

  • Check all servers that all backups have been carried out.

  • Change backup tapes as required [daily basis] and complete documentation.

  • Check Comms room to ascertain no discernible problems [i.e. modems, cables.]

  • Check card bureau ascertaining that all is operational.

  • Check customer services, all is operational.

  • Check automated stats and actions have been completed. [in house software]

  • Check all offices to ascertain that all are operational.

  • Check consumable stock, order as required.

  • Visit all areas of business regularly.

  • Keep and maintain records in respect of problems and resolutions.

  • Keep and maintain records in respect of inventory and asset register.

  • Keep and maintain records of "sent for repair "requests.

  • Respond to requests for assistance in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Keep "user" community advised of "system" problems and update them on
       progress regularly.

  • Keep and maintain records of deliveries and records with requests/purchase
       orders.

  • Keep and maintain daily "Technical Support Journal".

  • Keep records and "stock take" on Technical spares regularly. [Order as
       requirements]

  • Check orders awaiting delivery from suppliers.

  • Check heavy use printers, carry out any maintenance as and when required.

  • Check paper stocks in IT area are adequate for following week's requirements.

  • Carry out Desktop Audit that all records are kept up to date.

  • Ensure that all desktop equipment is updated with the latest anti-virus release.

    Summary

    I am a good timekeeper, easy to get on with, I am able to work on my own as well as being part of a team, well adjusted to most situations, I am able to take constructive criticism, I'm competent with most MS Applications, WINNT, Win95/98, MS Office but have had little experience with MS Exchange. I am adaptable and willing to accept new concepts of work related systems and projects. I am committed to work at full capacity and enjoy a challenge.
