About GecKo research & publishing
GecKo research & publishing, a privately held Nashville-based firm, tracks the latest developments in advanced telecommunications markets. The company publishes B2B market intelligence and news on a series of web sites, providing the information to the Internet community at no charge. Presently, GecKo actively maintains studies of the cable telecommunications and IP telephony marketplaces.
Market intelligence and news on cable telecommunications is published on the company's flagship web portal, The CATV CyberLab. The portal features dozens of lists of suppliers, deployments, market research, and technology resources. Interactivity and community areas include a discussion forum, a career center, and a classifieds section. The portal is home to The Broadband Bob Report, a monthly electronic publication tracking the latest developments in the cable modem marketplace. The newsletter is pushed by e-mail to more than 14,000 subscribers.
IP telephony news and market research is published on the IP xStream web portal. The portal features extensive lists of vendors, providers, and technology resources. Interactive areas include a discussion forum, a career center, and a trading post for soliciting and finding VoIP termination around the world. IP xStream is home to The IP Pulse, a twice weekly electronic publication that tracks the latest developments in the V/FoIP marketplace. The newsletter is pushed by e-mail to more than 17,500 subscribers.
GecKo has also published web portals and newsletters tracking the wireless marketplace but no longer actively maintain the research. These web properties include iSky and VSATLink.
In 1998, the company introduced turnkey web services including design, development and hosting. Shortly after launching the new division, it was spun-off to operate as a separate entity known as Kragware Design & Scripts.
GecKo operates on a pure advertising model, generating revenues from corporate sponsorships of its web portals and electronic publications. Since 1996, the firm's publications have been included in ad campaigns conducted by more than 50 leading companies in the cable telecom and VoIP marketplaces.
Initially formed in August 1995 as the CATV CyberLab, GecKo has quickly established itself as the leading source of research and news for the markets that it tracks. The company has been recognized by CNN, MSNBC, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and every major cable telecom and VoIP trade publication.
GecKo is led by its co-founder, Robert Arick, who has been studying the telecommunications industry since 1993. The company's other co-founder, Kelly Craig, is president of Kragware Design & Scripts.
